Rep. Black Praises Trump Election Victory
Gallatin, TN – Diane Black (R-TN-06), who was reelected to Congress with more than 70 percent of the vote last night, praised the decisive election of Donald J. Trump as President of the United States. Black endorsed Trump earlier this year before he officially clinched the Republican nomination and had made frequent media appearances in support of his campaign. She released the following statement:
“Last night, we were reminded that the polls, the pundits, and the political elite don’t determine elections – voters do. With Donald Trump’s convincing win, Americans rejected the scandals and status quo politics of the Clinton campaign, and instead voted for real change to take our country back from the liberal stranglehold of the last eight years,” said Diane Black. “I am elated over Donald Trump’s decisive victory and look forward to working with him and our House and Senate Republican majorities to repeal Obamacare, protect life, secure our border, and act on other conservative reforms. With Donald Trump as our 45th President, we will make America great again.”
Statement from Rep. Black on FBI Decision to Reopen Investigation into Clinton Emails
Gallatin, TN – Today Congressman Diane Black (R-TN-06) released the following statement on the FBI’s decision to reopen its investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server:
“The FBI’s decision, while long overdue, is the right one and is needed to ensure that Hillary Clinton faces justice for her reckless, criminal mishandling of our nation’s top secrets. This is a candidate who should be indicted, not inaugurated. Today’s news is another reminder that, when you get the Clintons, you get the scandals that come with them. They are a package deal – one that American voters must reject this November,” said Congressman Diane Black.
Rep. Black: Hillary Clinton is Either Lying or Even More Incompetent Than We Thought
Gallatin, TN– Congressman Diane Black (R-TN-06) released the following statement on the FBI’s newly unveiled summary of its July 2, 2016 interview with Presidential candidate and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton:
“As the steady drip, drip, drip from Hillary Clinton’s secret server scandal continues, it has become clearer than ever that she lacks the character and judgement to be President of the United States,” said Congressman Diane Black. “Secretary Clinton’s statement to the FBI that she did not know how classified emails were marked is particularly outrageous. The American people will have to decide if this is yet another Clinton lie or if she truly was that uninformed and ill-equipped to perform her duties as Secretary of State. Either outcome should be totally unacceptable to voters and disqualifying to her candidacy as President of the United States.”
Congressman Black added, “While unsurprising from anyone with the last name ‘Clinton’, we deserve better than this type of behavior from someone who has served as the nation’s top diplomat. This is precisely why I joined a letter to FBI Director Comey demanding more information on the decision not to recommend an indictment and why I support Speaker Paul Ryan’s calls to revoke Secretary Clinton’s security clearance. While we await further answers and accountability, the American people fortunately have the ultimate tool at their disposal to stop Hillary Clinton’s corruption and incompetence this November: the ballot box. I will continue to do my part in this endeavor by working to elect trusted, conservative candidates across the ballot.”
Congressman Black recently met with Donald Trump Jr. in Nashville to discuss the importance of defeating Hillary Clinton this November and protecting Republicans’ Congressional majorities. See a photo from their visit HERE.
Black Wins 9th Straight Republican Primary Against Perennial Candidate Carr
GALLATIN, TN – Diane Black is still undefeated. The conservative Gallatin lawmaker defeated perennial political candidate Joe Carr in the 6th District primary in convincing fashion Thursday, her ninth victory in nine primary elections dating back to 1998.
“This is a great grassroots victory and a victory for the idea that we need a conservative Congressman who gets results,” Black said. “We had a committed team of volunteers knocking on doors all across this district and we wouldn’t have won without them.”
Black, who is Tennessee’s only member of the powerful Ways & Means Committee, made her mark quickly in Washington as the first lawmaker to author legislation that repealed a healthcare provision of Obamacare. She has been one of the nation’s most outspoken and accomplished pro-life legislators and she is a key ally of Speaker Paul Ryan, dating back to their mutual service on the House Budget Committee.
“I believe in running hard, every single election, and this one was no different,” Black said. “We worked hard, we ran hard, and I am grateful to the voters of Middle Tennessee for their confidence.”
Black Campaign Calls on Joe Carr to Renounce Ted Cruz’s Refusal to Endorse Donald Trump
GALLATIN, TN – The Diane Black for Congress campaign is calling on Joe Carr, a delegate for Ted Cruz’s Presidential campaign, to repudiate the Texas Senator’s refusal to endorse Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump last night at the Republican National Convention. Diane Black released the following statement:
“Americans face a binary choice this November: Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton. Tennesseans know that Hillary Clinton lacks the integrity and judgment to hold any elected office, let alone President of the United States. That is why, back in May, I endorsed Donald Trump’s campaign and encouraged others to do the same so that we could unify our party and ensure a Republican victory this November,” said Diane Black. “Last night, Ted Cruz set us back in those efforts and handed a gift to the Clinton campaign by refusing to endorse Donald Trump. As a delegate for Ted Cruz, it is deeply concerning that Joe Carr has so far been silent on this selfish power play. Tennesseans deserve to know where Joe stands. I call on him to immediately denounce Ted Cruz’s refusal to endorse the Republican nominee and make clear his own support for Donald Trump.”
Trey Gowdy Endorses Diane Black for Congress
GALLATIN, TN – Congressman Trey Gowdy (R-SC-04), known for his tough oversight work to hold Obama Administration officials accountable, traveled to Gallatin, Tennessee today to endorse Congressman Diane Black for reelection.
Gowdy spoke to a crowd of over 125 people at the Epic Event Centre, including Gallatin Mayor Paige Brown, State Senator Ferrell Haile, and State Representative William Lamberth, to urge support for Congressman Black’s campaign. Gowdy hailed Black’s work as a “respected” conservative and a “leader” on the House Ways and Means Committee.
“I can’t imagine serving without her . . . I do not want to imagine serving without her. I not only want her to win on August 4th, I want her to win in such a way that it sends a message that we like how she votes, we like how she acts, and we like how she represents the people of Tennessee,” said Congressman Trey Gowdy in his remarks.

“Today’s event highlighted the vast differences between Diane Black’s campaign and that of our opponent,” said Diane Black campaign spokesman Jonathan Frank. “While Joe Carr’s campaign coffers are running dry and he now relies on a dark money group to do his bidding, the momentum for our campaign is growing by the day. This endorsement from Trey Gowdy, a conservative powerhouse in his own right, follows endorsements from the NRA, NFIB, National Right to Life, and many other organizations that Tennesseans know and trust. With election day just over two weeks away, it is increasingly clear that Joe Carr is headed for his fourth failed campaign in a row.”
Early voting runs now through July 30th and Election Day is Thursday, August 4th.

NFIB Endorses Diane Black for Re-election
GALLATIN, TN – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has endorsed Diane Black for reelection to Congress, citing her strong support for the small business community, and her perfect voting record on the NFIB scorecard.
Known as the organization that brought the first Supreme Court challenge against Obamacare, the NFIB is made up of over 325,000 small business leaders nationwide. Diane Black and her husband, David, are longtime NFIB members. At today’s endorsement event, Black noted how she and her husband took significant risks to launch their family business more than 20 years ago and lamented the need to “get government out of the way” so the private sector can flourish. You can watch a video clip of Congressman Black’s remarks to NFIB HERE.
“Congressman Diane Black is a strong voice for small business and a great friend to NFIB members,” said NFIB National Political Director Sharon Sussin. “In this Congress, she stood with small business owners on every critical vote scored by the NFIB so far. That’s an impressive record and we hope to see her back in the U.S. House next year continuing to stand against high taxes and oppressive regulations.”
“NFIB members in Congressman Diane Black’s district know she is a trustworthy, sincere and proven defender of their right to own, operate and grow their businesses,” said NFIB/Tennessee State Director Jim Brown. “Diane Black has stood with small business time and again, and she will continue to fight the significant overreach they’re experiencing.”
NFIB joins the NRA, National Right to Life, Tennessee Right to Life, the Family Research Council, the American Conservative Union and others in supporting Diane Black over her opponent. Tomorrow, Congressman Black will be joined by Congressman Trey Gowdy (R-SC-04) at an endorsement event in Gallatin. Click HERE for details.

Rep. Black: FBI Director Remarks Show Clinton Lied About Email Use
“Today’s remarks by FBI Director James Comey make clear that Hillary Clinton lied about her emails and highlights just how far she went to conceal her communications from the American public,” said Diane Black. “Secretary Clinton previously claimed that she did not send or receive ‘any material that was marked or designated classified’ yet the FBI investigation found that 110 emails sent or received on Clinton’s server contained classified information at the time the messages were transmitted. The FBI investigation further found that Clinton and her staff were ‘extremely careless’ in their email use and that ‘hostile actors’ may have accessed her communications. For many Americans, this is a bad case of déjà vu, as it reminds us of the countless scandals that have marked the Clintons’ decades in politics and that are sure to continue if she is elected President. If we cannot trust Hillary Clinton with a BlackBerry, we certainly cannot trust her with the Oval Office. This is among the many reasons why I have endorsed Donald J. Trump and will work to ensure that he defeats Hillary Clinton this November.”
Pro-Life Leaders: SCOTUS Decision Striking Down Abortion Clinic Safety Standards Will Allow More Gosnells
Pro-life leaders are railing against the Supreme Court’s 5-3 decision to strike down a Texas law that required abortion clinics to maintain the same health and safety standards as other outpatient surgical facilities.
Reacting to Whole Woman’s Health vs. Hellerstedt, Rep. Diane Black (R-TN) – a member of the House Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives – said in a statement:
Today is a sad day for women and their unborn babies. With the drop of a gavel, five Supreme Court justices have endangered the safety of women who may seek an abortion and have ensured that more innocent, unborn lives will be lost in the process. As a registered nurse, I know that there is ultimately no such thing as a safe abortion, but these modest standards work to reduce the risks of this already emotionally damaging procedure. The deep pockets of the big abortion industry may feel ‘burdened’ as a result of this compassionate law, but women are not – they are indeed safer as a result. This profoundly disappointing and cruel decision reinforces why the pro-life movement is more important than ever, and why the stakes are so high this November. Just as we worked for over a decade to overturn Planned Parenthood of Middle Tennessee vs. Sundquist in my state, we must now work to overturn this decision at the federal level and restore a culture where every child is welcomed in life and protected in law.
Black and more than 170 Members of the House and Senate filed an amicus brief in support of the Texas law earlier this year.
